Russian Healthcare Week 2024 took place at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds, Moscow, Russia, from 2 to 6 December 2024. This series of events is recognised as the country's largest healthcare forum covering equipment manufacturing, research and practical medicine.

The Week is traditionally included in the list of events supported by the Russian Ministry of Health and in the consolidated list of congresses and exhibitions held in Russia and abroad for participation of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.  

Russian Healthcare Week 2024 brought together such major exhibitions as the 33rd International Exhibition for Medical Engineering Products and ConsumablesZdravookhraneniye 2024, the 17th International Exhibition for Rehabilitation and Preventive Treatment Facilities, Medical Aesthetics, Pharmaceuticals and Products for Healthy Lifestyle Healthy Lifestyle 2024, the 9th PharmMedProm Exhibition and Conference, the 7th International Exhibition for Medical and Wellness Services, Health Improvement and Medical Treatment in Russia and Abroad – MedTravelExpo 2024. Medical Clinics. Health andSpa Resorts, and a rich medical business and science related conference programme.

Russian Healthcare Week is organised by the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly, the Russian Ministry of Health and EXPOCENTRE AO with the support of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, and under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Week and its international exhibitions contribute to the implementation of Russia's national projects aimed at achieving technological leadership, active creation of its own production base, development of the healthcare system, education, tourism, increasing the life expectancy of citizens, and addressing demographic issues.

Russian Healthcare Week 2024 demonstrated the high interest of the international community in cooperation with Russia in the field of medicine and pharmaceuticals. Thanks to the active participation of the Russian Ministry of Health in shaping the Week's agenda, it became not only a platform for discussing pressing industry issues, but also a start for new promising initiatives aimed at improving the health of citizens both in our country and abroad.

The exhibitions and events of the research, practice and business related programme of Russian Healthcare Week 2024 attracted more than 25,000 professional visitors from 70 countries and 87 regions of Russia.

Show highlights

The area of over 20,000 sq. m. accommodated more than 1,000 companies (including 763 Russian ones) from 17 countries: Belarus, China, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Lebanon, Pakistan, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkiye, the UAE, and Uzbekistan, and 52 regions of Russia.

China and Hungary had national pavilions. 

The group stands of Russian regions were arranged by the Altai Krai, the Republics of Bashkortostan and Chuvashia, the Pskov, Samara, Tyumen, Volgograd, and Voronezh Oblasts.

The latest medical technologies, innovative developments and health-improving services were presented by such companies as Sibur, VITA-POOL, Shvabe, Electron, AMICO, Bimc-Cardio-Volga, Almaz-Antey Concern, Medical Technologies LTD, Medindustria Service, Nizhegorodets, Modern Transport Technologies Group, S.P. Helpic, Nikamed, Trives, Maltri, Ortorent, Orbita, Physiotechnica, Blokhin  National Medical Research Center of Oncology of the Russian Ministry of Healthcare, Botkin Hospital, Medscan Group, the Beloostrov Clinic of High Technologies, Luka Krymskiy (Voyno-Jasenetsky) Medical Rehabilitation Centre, the Belokurikha Resort, the Sosnovy Bor Health Resort, the Matsesta Balneological Resort, the Sernovodsk Caucasus Health Resort, the Ruzhansky Health Resort, etc. 

The PharmMedProm exhibition, organised under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, showcased the products of 35 Russian manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and equipment. 

Conference programme

The rich conference programme of Russian Healthcare Week 2024 brought together more than 80 major events with about 1,000 leading Russian and foreign speakers.

Special attention was traditionally paid to events dedicated to the development of science and promotion of Russian innovative developments, aimed at creating favourable conditions for synergy between scientists, young professionals, manufacturers, investors, and healthcare managers.

The events were attended by representatives of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly, the Russian Ministry of Health, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia, the Moscow City Department of Healthcare, representatives of interested federal and regional authorities, different chief freelance specialists of the Russian Ministry of Health, heads of more than 20 industry unions, professional associations and foundations, state corporations, business leaders, manufacturers, distributors, chief doctors of clinics and health resorts, researchers, investors, students of medical universities and colleges, practicing doctors, and representatives of pharmacy chains.

The official opening ceremony of Russian Healthcare Week 2024 and the 16th Russian Assembly of Professionals in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industries was attended by Sergey Leonov, Chair at the Healthcare Committee of the Russian State Duma, Oleg Salagai, State Secretary – Russian Deputy Minister of Health, Yury Kalinin, President at the Union of Associations and Enterprises of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industries – Rosmedprom, Sergey Katyrin, President at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ekaterina Preezzheva, Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Viktor Cherepov, Vice President at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Leonid Ogul, First Deputy Chair at the Russian State Duma Committee on Health Protection, and Maxim Fateev, Chair at the Committee on Exhibition, Fair, Convention Activity of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Director General at EXPOCENTRE AO.

Yury Kalinin, Rosmedprom President, moderated the ceremony. In his welcoming speech, Mr. Kalinin congratulated EXPOCENTRE, the organiser of Zdravookhraneniye, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Over half a century, the exhibition has gone from a medical trade show to a large-scale series of events. It was here that key ideas were born, strategic decisions were discussed, and the latest technologies were presented, which now serve the health of millions of people.

Sergey Leonov, Chair at the Healthcare Committee of the Russian State Duma, welcomed the audience and invited them to participate in expert discussions held during the Week to discuss the industry’s current challenges.

Sergey Katyrin, President at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the Week was Russia’s largest medical networking platform that included more than 80 important events involving professionals in healthcare, rehabilitation, and medical tourism – all spheres that contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

After the ceremony, the 16th Russian Assembly of Professionals in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industries continued its work.

The event was organised by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the OPORA RUSSIA Non-Government Association, and EXPOCENTRE AO.

Other reports were made by Viktor Dmitriev, Director General at the Association of Russian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, Chair at the Public Council under the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare, Kirill Litvitsky, Director General at Medical Technology Consortium, Valentina Kosenko, Director General at the Scientific Centre for Expert Evaluation of Medicinal Products, Vladimir Kolin, Chair at the Board of the Association of Producers of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Mikhail Filonov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation at MISIS, Olga Pelekhataya, Member of the Presidium of the Russian Public Council of the Medical Industry, Director General at I.C. In 2024, Russian Healthcare Week significantly expanded its international agenda. Leaders of healthcare systems from a number of Asian and African countries paid official visits to the Week at the invitation of Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko.

Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko moderated the high-levelSection on Key Vectors for the Development of Healthcare Systems: DifferentDirections – One Goal on December 2.

The session was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health of Libya Ramadan Ahmed Boujenah, Minister of Health and Public Hygiene of Burkina Faso Robert Kargougou, Deputy Minister of Health of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Salem Al-Dahmashi, Deputy Minister of Health of Myanmar Aye Tun, representatives of ministries of health and state development funds of Serbia, Syria, Qatar, Uganda, and other countries.

The Russian party was represented by Director General at the National Medical Research Radiological Center of the Russian Ministry of Health Andrey Kaprin, Director at the National Medical Research Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine of the Russian Ministry of Health Oksana Drapkina, Director General at the Association of Russian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Viktor Dmitriev, and heads of large companies of medical devices and equipment manufacturers participating in the exhibitions.

At the beginning of his speech, Mr. Murashko recalled that this year marked the 150th anniversary of the birth of Nikolay Semashko and praised his contribution to the formation and development of the existing healthcare system in Russia.

During the visit to Russian Healthcare Week, foreign delegations visited subordinate federal centres of the Russian Ministry of Health and held talks with major manufacturers of medical equipment and machinery, as well as with the heads of relevant associations taking part in the Week. These visits took place at the invitation of Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health of Russia, as part of the development of international cooperation.

Ministers of Health of Asian and African countries highly appreciated the exhibitions and events of Russian Healthcare Week, which allow building an open, effective and mutually beneficial dialogue with the participants of the international market.

A number of bilateral meetings were held within the Week. Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko and Deputy Prime Minister of Libya Ramadan Ahmed Boujenah held a bilateral meeting and signed a memorandumof understanding in the healthcare sector. The parties intend to cooperate in the healthcare sector in the field of maternal and child health, development of medical tourism, introduction of digital technologies in healthcare, as well as in the professional development of medical professionals, and other fields. Mikhail Murashko also held a bilateral meeting with Robert Kargougou, Minister of Health and Public Hygiene of Burkina Faso. During the talks, the parties discussed a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues. The main focus was on the exchange of experience in the digital transformation of healthcare and the introduction of modern technologies that will improve the quality and accessibility of medical services.

Several award ceremonies took place within the Week's platform.

On 2 December, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov awarded the winners of the National Award ‘Hope for Technology’ for contribution to the development and promotion of the rehabilitation industry and universal design and had a tour around the exhibition. The main goal of the award is to identify and support the best Russian innovative projects in the rehabilitation industry and improve the quality of technical rehabilitation equipment for people with disabilities. This year the expert committee received 56 applications in 5 nominations.

The Minister drew attention to the strategic importance of the rehabilitation industry, which contributes to an inclusive society.

The award ceremony of the Best Public-Private Cooperation Project in Healthcare was also held during Russian Healthcare Week. The winners were awarded by Russian First Deputy Minister of Health Viktor Fisenko.

The participants of the StrategicSession on Healthcare 2024: Priorities, Personnel, Laws discussed key areas of healthcare development. In particular, they talked about current trends and prospects for the introduction of innovative technologies in medical practice. Special attention was paid to the problems of staffing the industry, including professional development of medical workers and the development of educational programmes.

The event was organised by the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, Research Institute of Healthcare and Medical Management of the Moscow City Department of Healthñare, and EXPOCENTRE AO.

The session was moderated by Vladimir Kononov, Deputy Chair at the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, and Elena Aksenova, Director at Research Institute of Healthcare and Medical Management of the Moscow City Department of Healthcare.  

The session participants emphasised the importance of integrating science and practice, as well as the need for interdepartmental cooperation to address pressing healthcare challenges. The event became an important platform for sharing experience and developing strategic solutions aimed at improving the quality of medical care in Russia.

“...We have seen startups that we simply have to pay attention to. They are the future of medicine. Thanks to such platforms and technologies, we are moving forward. We should simply pay attention to those startups and proposals that were addressed to us, to the Ministry of Health. We should pick them up and, together with the government of the Russian Federation, see them through to completion, so that they come to every region of our country and help our citizens in the treatment of certain diseases.”

One of the priorities of EXPOCENTRE, especially in the year of the company's 65th anniversary, is working with young professionals, facilitating direct dialogue with their future employers, which are the largest flagship companies taking part in the Week's exhibitions, and with the leaders of the scientific block of Russian medicine. Recognising young scientists, preventing the outflow of talented doctors, scientists and engineers abroad, building a system of scientific mentorship and providing opportunities to learn from the best are the priority goals of Russian Healthcare Week.

The Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technologies Development, the Russian Ministry of Health, and EXPOCENTRE AO organised the 4th edition of the YOUNG MEDICINE Scientific and Educational Forum in order to facilitate the implementation of the above objectives.  

The YOUNG MEDICINE has already established itself as an important platform for supporting young talents and promoting scientific ideas in practical healthcare. This forum not only helps young professionals to make a name for themselves, but also promotes the integration of innovations into the national healthcare system.

This year's forum brought together more than 300 participants – students, young scientists, teachers and leading industry experts – providing a unique platform for discussing relevant issues of modern medicine and the prospects for its development.

At the opening ceremony, Inna Svyatenko, Deputy Chair at the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, emphasised the practical orientation of the forum, as some of the works presented at the first forum had already had practical implementation.

President at Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technologies Development Ekaterina Dibrova said that in the current 2024 year, 412 projects and research papers from 52 regions of Russia, as well as Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan were submitted to a competition of the Russian Scientific School ‘Young Medicine’. Two hundred and six medical universities and research centres across the country are involved in the orbit of the project. This year, the dominant topic of YOUNG MEDICINE is opportunities for young scientists.

The Week also included the Conferencefor Students and Young Professionals: Open the World of Medical Technology.Career Prospects in Medical Engineering, organised by Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education of the Russian Ministry of Health, and EXPOCENTRE AO.

The conference participants were students of medical colleges and universities, and representatives of industry companies and universities. Graduates of Sechenov University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University and MISIS told the audience about successful cases of work in various companies, and their achievements and difficulties of studying at universities. In their turn, representatives of industry companies presented their job openings to the students, indicated what qualities they value in their employees and what opportunities for internships and employment exist.

Special emphasis of the Week’s scientific programme was made on the discussion of new national projects and summing up the results of the Development of Export of Medical Services federal project, as well as on reproductive health, rehabilitation and digitalisation.

The National Medical Research Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine of the Russian Ministry of Health and EXPOCENTRE AO organised the Forum onRussia’s Priorities. Long and Active Life with the support of the Russian Ministry of Health on December 3.   

The forum was aimed at discussing the strategy and ways of implementing the Long and Active Life new national project. Its goal is to increase the average life expectancy of Russian citizens to 80 years.

The Forum programme started with a plenary session moderated by Anna Kontsevaya, Deputy Director for Research and Analysis at the National Medical Research Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine of the Russian Ministry of Health.

The following key session on Women for Men's Health, initiated by Oksana Drapkina, Chief Freelance Specialist in Internal Medicine and General Medical Practice of the Russian Ministry of Health, Coordinator at the EWF Council project ‘Women's Health is the Wellbeing of the Nation’, and Director at the National Medical Research Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine of the Russian Ministry of Health. Promotion of a healthy lifestyle among men is becoming more than just a trend. It is gaining the status of a social necessity. The session showed how important it is to work comprehensively and systematically in all aspects of promoting men's health. Today, the government, employers, mass media and public organisations play a role in the formation of the health ecosystem. The family remains the foundation of this system, that shapes the first habits and attitudes towards health.  

The 5th National Congress of Export of Medical Services took place on December 2. It was organised by the Russian Ministry of Health and the Civic Chamber of Russia with the support of the Russian State Duma Committee on Healthcare, EXPOCENTRE AO and the Union of Russian Cities.  

Key industry experts spoke at the Plenary Session on the Results of the Implementation of the Federal Project on Development of Export of Medical Services and Objectives for the Period up to 2030. The congress was moderated by Nikolay Daikhes, Director at the Federal Center of Otorhinolaryngology, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Chief Freelance Otorhinolaryngologist of the Russian Ministry of Health, and First Deputy Chair for Healthcare of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation. Other participants included Leonid Ogul, Deputy Chair at the Russian State Duma Committee on Health Protection, Alexandra Usacheva, Director at the Department of International Cooperation and Public Relations of the Russian Ministry of Health, Olga Turenko, Head at the Department for Organisation of Medical Assistance, Industrial Medicine and Counteraction to Emergency Situations of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia.  

Alexandra Usacheva in her speech, in particular, noted that medical tourism is one of the most relevant trends in the development of global healthcare. According to her, the issue of medical tourism development is under the close attention of the country's leaders and the Russian Ministry of Health. A systemic impetus to the development of this direction was given by the Decree on National Goals and Strategic Objectives of the Russian Federation Development for the Period Until 2024 issued in 2018, and the Federal Project on the Development of Export of Medical Services, which was included in the Healthcare National Project. By the above decree, the Russian President set an ambitious goal that is to increase the volume of exports of medical services at least fourfold by 2024 compared to 2017, up to USD 1 billion. Despite all the difficulties, the targets have not only been achieved, but also exceeded. Alexandra Usacheva also said that to date, more than 20 million foreign citizens had come to Russia for treatment, and the total export of medical services had totalled more than USD 1.2 billion. “The high demand for Russian medical services speaks of its high-tech, quality, safety, accessibility and competitive cost. Russian healthcare is built on the principles of patient-centricity. Russia is ready to accept all those who wish to undergo treatment,” said Ms. Usacheva.

The event concluded with the International Session on Expanding Cooperation: Foreign Experience of Treatment and Recovery of Foreign Patients in Medical and Health Centres of Russia, where representatives of China, Indonesia and the Philippines spoke about their experience of exporting medical services and offered options for cooperation with Russia.

More than 230 participants took part in the congress: 30% were heads of medical facilities and health resorts, 27% were managers of medical companies, 25% were doctors, and 18% were employees of health departments of Moscow and other regions of Russia.

The International Conference on the Family Microbiome and Reproductive Health was devoted to the issues of human reproductive health. The event was held for the first time within Russian Healthcare Week as part of the Year of the Family in Russia. It was dedicated to prompt response to global challenges and threats to humanity caused by unfavourable environmental influences and chronic diseases.

The professional community came together to make strategic decisions, popularise the study of human mycloflora, and use the findings for its treatment.

The conference was organised by the National Association of Honoured Physicians with the support of EXPOCENTRE AO.

The conference programme included the following thematic platforms: microbiome as the basis of health, reproductive health, genetic consultant, and bio- and IT technologies in medicine.

Following the conference, an Interdisciplinary Expert Group will be established to develop standards and introduce metagenomic research into clinical practice.

The topic of rehabilitation was discussed over several days at different events organised with the support of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia.   

These events included the Forum onMedical Rehabilitation and Health Resort Treatment: From Research to Practice, organised by the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia.

Elena Gamaeva, Acting Director General at the Federal Scientific and Clinical Center of Medical Rehabilitation and Balneology of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia, and Gennady Ponomarenko, Director General at Albrekht Federal Scientific and Educational Centre of Medial and Social Expertise and Rehabilitation of the Russian Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, moderated the forum. 

The 6th Russian Congress on the Health Resort Industry. Research. Results was organised by the National Medical Research Centre for Rehabilitation and Health Resort Therapy of the Russian Ministry of Health with the support of EXPOCENTRE AO on December 3 and 4.

The congress brought together leading Russian and foreign experts in the field of health resort treatment, medical rehabilitation and health tourism, representatives of federal and regional authorities, as well as scientists and teachers of scientific and educational institutions.  

Natalia Zubareva, Acting Director at the National Medical Research Centre for Rehabilitation and Health Resort Therapy of the Russian Ministry of Health read a welcoming address to the congress participants.

The Congress was attended by representatives of eight countries: Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Cuba, Italy, Kazakhstan, and South Ossetia. Within the extensive international section, eight scientific reports were presented by foreign specialists in the field of health resort treatment and medical rehabilitation. They spoke about the most relevant issues of international cooperation in the development of health resort systems, joint use of natural healing resources of our countries, and medical tourism. The important role in the development of international relations in the field of spa treatment was emphasised the cooperation of the National Medical Research Centre for Rehabilitation and Health Resort Therapy of the Russian Ministry of Health with FEMTEC – the World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy.

The Congress concluded with the signing of a number of resolutions that consolidate important achievements in the field of medical rehabilitation, health resort treatment and health tourism. Among them, special attention was paid to the development of recommendations on improving the quality of medical care in health resorts, improving the qualifications of professionals, and introducing modern technologies into the healthcare system.

The first Conferenceon Effective Oncological Rehabilitation. Utilising the Potential of Modern  Health Resorts was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with PROATOM and with the support of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, and the Rosatom trade union. 

The conference was moderated by Valery Kuzmin, Chair at the Rosatom trade union, Corresponding Member of the Russian Engineering Academy.

The conference was attended by more than 40 representatives of medical and health resort institutions, charitable foundations, the Rosatom trade union organisation, IT specialists, and specialists in the field of ecology and practical oncopsychology.

The great interest of the participants was aroused by the works on introduction of artificial intelligence into the practice of surgery and therapy of malignant neoplasms, on the case of practical use of own developments in the field of software product creation and machine vision technology.

Russian Healthcare Week 2024 also included regular events of Izmerov Research Institute of Occupational Health. On 3 December there was a meeting of the Profile Commission of the Russian Ministry of Health for Occupational Pathology. The meeting participants discussed the issues of development, approval and practical implementation of clinical recommendations on occupational pathology, the progress of work on the draft order of medical care in the Occupational Pathology profile, the professional standard of a general practitioner, trends in the formation of the list of occupational diseases, the current state and prospects for improving educational activities in the training of occupational physicians, and aspects of methodology and methodology of occupational pathology.  

A special issue of the programme was the discussion of improving approaches to the detection of occupational cancer within the implementation of the Fighting Cancer national project. Co-authors of the main report of a separate panel within the meeting were researchers and medical practitioners from Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, and Chita.

Izmerov Research Institute of Occupational Health and the Occupational Health Physicians and Specialists Association organised the Conference on Health of the Working Population as a Basis for the Implementation of the National Project for Long and Active Life on December 3.

Digital medicine issues were discussed at the Panel onthe Introduction of New Technologies in Practical Healthcare, organised by the Department of Digital Technologies of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry jointly with the Chamber’s Council for the Development of Information Technologies and Digital Economy and EXPOCENTRE AO. The event was attended by heads of medical organisations and universities, leading medical, pharmaceutical and digital companies, as well as representatives of the banking sector, and members of the working group on digital medicine of the Council of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the Development of Information Technologies and Digital Economy.

The panel was moderated by German Klimenko, Co-chair at the Council of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the Development of Information Technologies and Digital Economy.

The conference programme of PharmMedProm 2024, organised by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and S-GROUPP, included the Panel on the Russian Rehabilitation Industry up to 2030. Strategy, Prospects, Tools. Dmitry Galkin, Director at the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry Development, presented the draft Strategy for the Rehabilitation Industry Development up to 2030. The strategy aims to develop, produce and support the use of rehabilitation products. The goal of the strategy is to meet the needs of people with disabilities and low mobility groups in safe technical solutions that improve the quality of life. The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to finalise the Strategy in the near future and submit the final version to the Russian Government for consideration. It is expected that the implementation of the document will begin as early as 2025.

A landmark event of the Week was the Panel onthe Key Results of Medical Technology Consortium in Promoting TechnologicalSovereignty of the Russian Medical Industry in 2024 and Plans for 2025, organised by Medical Technology Consortium with the support of EXPOCENTRE AO.  

The panel was devoted to measures of state support of Moscow in the sphere of medical industry, as well as the cooperation of the Moscow City Government with Medical Technology Consortium.  

The discussion on the development of the medical industry of the Russian Federation and the system of interaction with Russian manufacturers of high-tech medical equipment included a discussion of the organisation of state control and the simplified procedure for registration of medical devices. The event was attended by top managers of EXPOCENTRE AO, the Union of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the City Investment Management Agency, chief specialists of Sechenov University, Russian Scientific and Research Institute for Medical Engineering of the Federal Service on Surveillance in Healthcare, the Federal Center for Applied Development of Artificial Intelligence, and other industry organisations and enterprises.

In order to promote technological sovereignty in the medical industry, Kirill Litvitsky, Director General at the Consortium, spoke about the development of the draft Medical Industry Development Plan of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030, aimed at solving the problem of self-sufficiency of the economy with quality products of the medical industry, its import substitution in the conditions of international sanctions, as well as increasing the competitiveness of domestically produced medical products.

The 19th edition of the International Scientific Conference on the Current State and Development Prospects of the Elite Sports Medicine – SportMed 2024 took place December 5–6.

The conference was attended by Russian State Duma Deputy Mikhail Kizeev, Russian Deputy Minister of Health Andrey Plutnitsky, Russian Deputy Minister of Sport Alexey Morozov, Deputy Head at the Sports Medicine Management Department of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency Igor Vykhodets, General Director at the Association of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency RUSADA Veronika Loginova, and others.

The event’s moderator was Boris Polyaev, Chief External Specialist in Sports Medicine of the Russian Ministry of Health.

The first Russian Conference on Hybrid Technologies in the Treatment of Multifocal Atherosclerosis was organised by the Main Military Medical Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense with the support of EXPOCENTRE AO on December 6.

The aim of the conference was to discuss the latest advances in prevention, diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of atherosclerosis in order to raise awareness of medical professionals about new methods and approaches in cardiology, lipidology and vascular surgery.

The main thematic areas of the conference were the exchange of experience among leading experts in cardiology, lipidology, genetics and vascular surgery; presentation of new research and clinical practices aimed at reducing morbidity and mortality from atherosclerosis; promotion of the development of recommendations to improve the quality of life of patients with atherosclerosis; and establishment of cooperation between scientific institutions and clinics to optimise treatment and implementation of advanced technologies. 

The conference participants presented 12 scientific reports of leading and chief specialists of the Main Military Medical Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Vishnevsky National Medical Research Centre for High Medical Technologies, a branch of the Military Medical Academy in Moscow, MEDSI Group, Central State Medical Academy of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, Mindray Medical Rus, Petrovsky National Research Centre of Surgery, Nikolay Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital, which are directly involved in the development and application of the most relevant, promising and innovative techniques in the treatment of multifocal atherosclerosis.

The conference was attended by representatives of military-medical and healthcare institutions of various specialties, practicing physicians, employees of research centres, students of cycles of additional professional education and residency of the Moscow branch of the Military Medical Academy. 

Russian Healthcare Week 2024 concluded with the 26th Conference on Modern Achievements of Reconstructive and Maxillofacial Surgery, dedicated to the memory of Professor Vladimir Ippolitov. The event was organised by the Central Research and Development Institute of Stomatology and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Russian Ministry of Health with the support of EXPOCENTRE AO. 

Opening the conference, Fedor Losev, Director at the Central Research Institute of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, emphasised Vladimir Ippolitov's enormous contribution to the development of maxillofacial surgery.

The conference was attended by more than 200 professionals in maxillofacial surgery from medical organisations in Moscow, Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod. Vladimir Ippolitov’s colleagues and students talked not only about the professional qualities of their mentor, but also his human qualities such as friendliness, attentiveness, ability to find an approach to any patient, and readiness to help those who need his support.

EXPOCENTRE pays great attention to promoting quality products on the Russian market and supporting foreign manufacturers.

The Russian Scientific and Research Institute for Medical Engineering of the Federal Service on Surveillance in Healthcare organised with the support of EXPOCENTRE AO the 2nd Special Expert Session on MEDTECH.RUSSIA – The Best Way to Enter the Russian Market for representatives of foreign medical device manufacturers participating in the Week and interested in entering the Russian and EEU markets. A moderator and keynote speaker of the event was Igor Ivanov, General Director at the Russian Scientific and Research Institute for Medical Engineering of the Federal Service on Surveillance in Healthcare. More than 100 foreign manufacturers took part in the event. The event was held with translation into English and Chinese.

On the same day, the Russian Scientific and Research Institute for Medical Engineering of the Federal Service on Surveillance in Healthcare organised with the support of EXPOCENTRE AO the Forum on Support Tools for Manufacturers to Bring Medical Products to the Market for representatives of Russian medical device manufacturers.

The Section on International Cooperation between Russia and China in Healthcare: Prospects, Trends and Payment Solutions was organised in Chinese by EXPOCENTRE AO with the support of Sinoruss. The event was moderated by Anastasia Valova, Managing Partner at Sinoruss. The programme included sessions on financial transactions between Russia and China in healthcare: specifics, current solutions and cases; growing demand for quality medical equipment in Russia: opportunities for Chinese partners; advantages of partnership with the Russian healthcare market and strategic cooperation with China; innovations and new technologies in healthcare in Russia and China;  localisation of medical products: a key aspect of successful cooperation in the Russian market; and payment solutions for Russian-Chinese transactions in healthcare: current opportunities and prospects.

The Agency for Strategic Initiatives hold a pitch session of the medical projects with the support of EXPOCENTRE AO on December 7.

More than 70 people participated in the event. A total of 12 projects were presented in two areas: medical information screening and analysis systems, and modern rehabilitation and habilitation systems.

The conference programme of MedTravelExpo. Medical Clinics. Health and Spa Resorts was as rich and multifaceted as usual.

In order to promote the development of medical tourism, EXPOCENTRE AO together with the MedicaTour Agency of Medical Tourism organised the annual International Medical Tourism Workshop for the exhibitors of MedTravelExpo on 3 and 4 December. Fifteen medical tourism agencies from Russia, Azerbaijan, Egypt Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkiye, and the UAE and took part in the workshop.

The workshop was held to facilitate negotiations between the leading players in the medical tourism market and exhibitors. Over 250 meetings and negotiations between agencies and exhibitors (clinics, health resorts, etc.) were held over two days, resulting in framework agreements on further cooperation, as well as plans to develop exports of Russian medical services and increase the flow of foreign patients for treatment and rehabilitation in Russian medical institutions and resorts.

The Practical Conference for Resort Industry Innovators on Modern Health Resorts: New Meanings and New Goals took place on December 2.  

The event was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO and The Health Resort Industry magazine. The event brought together representatives of health resorts from all over Russia: health resort managers, experts in the development of health resorts and representatives of manufacturers of products for the effective operation of health resorts.  

The final point of the conference was an award ceremony of the Person of the Health Resort Industry Awards and the SANCUR-innovation Awards. The Health Resort Industry magazine annually recognises health resorts, companies and experts whose innovative projects set new trends and influence the development of the health resort industry.

The events,organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with Medical Business School, were held for heads of clinics and health resorts on December 3 and 4 with the participation of business owners, heads of non-governmental and state-run medical organisations, chief physicians, commercial directors, and representatives of the medical community.

Invited speakers discussed the latest trends, innovations and best practices to help improve your business processes and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving industry.

The 6th Conference on a Doctor's Personal Brand Workshop was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with Zerts. Nine best medical speakers – expert practitioners and successful doctors – shared information about promotion of a doctor's personal brand in social networks, talked about reputational risks in promoting a doctor's personal brand in social networks, and presented strategies for promoting medical videos.

The Forum on the Business Workshop for Clinic Managers and Employees was organised in partnership with Medical Corporate University on December 5.  

The 5th MedTravelFest International Festival for Active Lifestyle and Health included the Forum on Anti-Aging Technologies: How to Achieve Longevity. The event was held for health promotion professionals providing health support and improvement services and the general public. Its moderator was Ivan Morgunov, co-founder of Longaevus Technologies.
