Russian Health Care Week 2023 is one of the oldest medical forums in Europe dedicated to medicine and health protection, covering virtually the entire industry from equipment manufacturing to research and practical medicine.

The Week is traditionally included in the list of events supported by the Russian Ministry of Health Care and in the consolidated list of congresses and exhibitions held in Russia and abroad for participation of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. It is one of Russia’s main series of federal medical conventions and exhibitions.  

Russian Health Care Week brings together a large scale conference programme and three exhibitions – Zdravookhraneniye, Healthy Lifestyle, MedTravelExpo. Medical Clinics, Health and Spa Resorts. Their main objective is to promote the implementation of the national projects on Health Care, Demography, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, and the federal project on Development of Medical Services Export.

Russian Health Care Week is also included in two initiatives of the plan of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia: Designing the Future and the Platform for Interaction Between Science, Business, Government and Society.

Show highlights

This year, Zdravookhraneniye, Healthy Lifestyle and MedTravelExpo. Medical Clinics, Health and Spa Resorts will welcome more than 1,000 companies from 14 countries: Belarus, China, Cuba, Germany, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kuwait, Lebanon, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, and Turkiye.   

China and Cuba will have national pavilions.  

Thanks to regional business support funds, 50 regions of Russia will be represented in the exhibitions. There will also be regional pavilions of the Stavropol Krai, the Republics of Crimea and Tatarstan, Belgorod, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Orel, Samara, Tomsk, Vladimir, Volgograd, and Voronezh Oblasts.

The Russian exhibitors will include Sibur, Shvabe, Electron, AMICO, Bimc-Cardio-Volga, Almaz-Antey Concern, Medical Technologies LTD, First Medical Company, Medindustria Service, Nizhegorodets, Modern Transport Technologies Group, S.P. The exhibitions will demonstrate the latest medical equipment, medical devices, consumables, rehabilitation and prevention equipment, aesthetic medicine, pharmaceuticals and goods for healthy lifestyle, medical and health-improving services, and health-improving and treatment technologies in Russia and other countries.

The PharmMedProm exhibition, organised under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, will showcase the products of Russian manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and equipment. 

Conference programme

The rich conference programme of Russian Health Care Week 2023  will bring together close to 90 major events.

The Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly, the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, the National Priorities Autonomous Nonprofit Organisation, different state corporations and industry associations took part in the preparation of these events.

The Week will open on 4 December with the 15^th Russian Assembly of Professionals in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industries, organised by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Rosmedprom Association, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the OPORA RUSSIA Non-Government Association, and the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the support of EXPOCENTRE AO. 

Russian Health Care Week 2023 will for the first time host the Forum on the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia: Direction to Medicine, organised by the National Priorities Autonomous Nonprofit Organisation in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO. The forum will be moderated by Sofia Malyavina, Director General at the National Priorities Autonomous Nonprofit Organisation. 

The expected participants are representatives of the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow State University, Sechenov University, the Skolkovo Foundation, and other experts.

Its key events will be the session on helping to create innovative pharmaceuticals, medical products and services, the session on forecasting mid and long term demand for pharmaceuticals, the examples of innovative developments in MedTech: cases from manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and equipment, and the pitch session of medical technology startups.

The Week’s first day will also feature the Strategic Session and Meeting of the Committee on Exhibition, Fair, and Convention Activity of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Modern Medicine: Priorities, Personnel, Laws. Exhibitions as an Effective Mechanism for Using Breakthrough Solutions in Health Care. The event is organised by the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, the Russian State Duma Committee on Health Care, the Committee on Exhibition, Fair, and Convention Activity of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Research Institute of Health Care and Medical Management of the Moscow City Department of Health Care, and EXPOCENTRE AO. The session will be co-moderated by Vladimir Kononov, Deputy Chair at the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, Chair at the Organising Committee of NTI Expo, Alexey Vyalkin, Chair at the Committee on Exhibition, Fair, and Convention Activity of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Director General at EXPOCENTRE AO, and Elena Aksenova, Director at Research Institute of Health Care and Medical Management of the Moscow City Department of Health Care. The event will be held in SkyLight Hall of Congress Centre.

The Strategic Session on Addressing the Challenges of Import Substitution in Biomedicine will be organised by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Centre for Development of Scientific and Educational Initiatives to discuss the challenges of technological import substitution in the field of biomedicine and the capabilities of development institutions in solving them, and to hold a presentation session of technological projects of the participants. The event’s co-moderators will be Dmitry Kurochkin, Vice President at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Elena Medvedeva, Director of the Department of Project and Investment Activities at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 

The Consortium of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO will hold the Forum on Robotics Solutions and Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Medicine in the Presentation Area of Forum Pavilion. Speakers will draw attention to the fact that medical robotics can reveal high accuracy in diagnostics and operations, as well as significantly reduce the risks of harm to human life and health.

The Emergency Medical Center of the Moscow City Department of Health Care in cooperation with EXPOCENTRE AO will hold the annual Section on Ambulance and Disaster Medicine on 4 December. 

The conference programme MedTravelExpo. Medical Clinics, Health and Spa Resorts will be opened with the forum for owners, managers, top managers and marketers of health resorts and medical centres on Health and Spa Resorts: Concepts, Marketing, Quality, Personnel. The event will be moderated by the well-known tourism expert Valery Shubin. The forum’s participants will include Mikhail Nikitin, Chief External Specialist in Health and Spa Treatment of the Russian Ministry of Health Care, Director at the Vulan Health Resort, Sergey Shpilko, Honorary President at the Russian Union of Travel Industry, Yulia Ivanova, business consultant, CX designer, one of the leading practitioners in customer service and service skills development in the spa and health resort industry, Vladislav Burya, health resort marketing expert, Natalia Kolganova, Director of the Food Safety Competence Centre at the Russian Quality System (Roskachestvo), Ilya Konoplev, expert in the development and external audits of quality and safety systems, marketer, travel director at the Bright Fit federal network of fitness clubs, organiser of camps and fitness tours, Sergey Dmitriev, Head Editor at the Health Resort Industry business magazine, and Andrey Petrov, Director for Business Development in Russia and the CIS at Semrén & Månsson.

On 4 December, EXPOCENTRE AO and KVK Imperia Forum will hold two joint events within the rich conference programme of Russian Health Care Week. The Russian Forum on the Strategic Challenges of the Medical Devices Market in Russia, held in Conference Hall of Pavilion No.8, will give forecasts for the market of medical products in 2024, talk about seven mandatory steps in building strategic marketing in the field of medical products, a step-by-step plan for the implementation of neural networks, the specifics of promotion on different sales platforms, and much more.

The participants in the Russian Conference on the Relevant Problems of Modern Medical Organisations will discuss key challenges, growth points and support measures for medical centres, digitalisation of medicine, main principles and working tools for attracting patients and the best medical personnel, etc.  

The second day of Russian Health Care Week and MedTravelExpo. Medical Clinics, Health and Spa Resorts is going to be very action packed. The 4^th National Congress of Export of Medical Services will open with a plenary session moderated by Igor Shiryaev, Head of the Communication Projects Division at the Department of International Cooperation and Public Relations of the Russian Ministry of Health Care. The event is organised by the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the Coordinating Centre of the Federal Project for Development of Export of Medical Services, and the National Medical Research Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine of the Russian Ministry of Health Care, in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO. 

The Regional Session on the Experience of the Russian Regions in the Development of Export of Medical Services. Results of 2023 will offer reports by industry leaders in charge of this area in Moscow, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Ugra, and Volgograd, Voronezh and Samara Oblasts. The congress will also include the 2^nd Symposium of National Medical Research Centres of the Russian Ministry of Health Care on the Role of NMRCs in the Challenges of Exporting Medical Services, which will be moderated by Head of the External Communications Centre, Head of the Medical Tourism Department at the National Medical Research Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine of the Russian Ministry of Health Care Olga Bezzubenko.

On 5 December, the National Medical Research Centre for Rehabilitation and Health Resort Therapy of the Russian Ministry of Health Care – which is Russia's leading centre for restorative medicine and balneology, specialising in providing highly qualified medical care to the population, carrying out research, training staff, and improving the qualifications of doctors – will organise the 5^th Congress on Health Resort Industry. Science. Results, the Session of the Profile Commission of the Russian Ministry of Health Care on Health Resort Therapy, the Educational event for medical personnel of health resorts (hybrid), and the Conference on Natural Therapeutic Resources as a Tool to Increase the Attractiveness of Health Resorts.

PharmMedProd will include the meeting on implementation and development of the project on collection of donor biological materials for production of a domestic drug based on human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) used in infertility therapy and other medical conditions (organised by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Endopharm (the Moscow Endocrine Plant) and the Working Meeting on the Development of Production of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices in the Russian Federation Intended for the Provision of Medical Care for Male Reproductive Health. 

Two meetings of the Profile Commissions of the Russian Ministry of Health on health resort therapy and occupational pathology will be held on 5 December.

Russian Health Care Week will host the 5^th Anniversary Scientific and Methodological Forum for Health Care Managers 2023: Organisational Solutions as the Structural Frame of Moscow’s Health Care, organised by the Moscow City Department of Health Care and Research Institute of Health Care and Medical Management of the Moscow City Department of Health Care in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO.

On 5 December, there will be an offline plenary session. On 6 December, thematic sessions will be held online in Conference Hall of Pavilion No.8.

The 7^th Conference on Digital Dentistry and Additive Technologies for Medicine will be organised by AM-CORE OOO in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO. The event will be moderated by Sergey Kulakov, Director General at Z-axis OOO.

MedTravelExpo will host on 5 and 6 December the regular International Medical Tourism Workshop, organised by EXPOCENTRE AO, with participation of leading medical tourism agencies from nine countries: Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, India, Iran, Israel, Kazakhstan, Turkiye, and Uzbekistan. In advance, each participant will receive a schedule of meetings with buyers. During the workshop, there will be negotiations on possible further co-operation and signing of agreements of intent.

The Conference on Adolescent Health: the Basis of the Labour Potential of the Future will be organised by Izmerov Research Institute of Occupational Health and the Occupational Health Physicians and Specialists Association with the support of EXPOCENTRE AO.

On 5 December, the Forum on Health Care Ecosystem: A New Look at Preservation and Restoration of Health will be held by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with the Health Care Development Centre of Skolkovo Moscow School of Management. The forum’s objective is to present expert reports and discuss the progressive trends of the health ecosystem development, which must be taken into account in order for companies to develop ahead of the curve and for customers and employees to be satisfied. The sessions and discussions will be moderated by Marina Veldanova, Professor of Business Practice, Executive Coach, PCC ICF, Director of the Centre for Health Care Development at the Skolkovo Moscow School of Management. 

The forum will offer four sessions on ecosystem approach in health care: challenges and successful practices, on client focus in health care as a recognised necessity, on development vector of the pharmaceutical industry in the new environment, and on well-being and modern approaches to support active longevity. 

Russian Scientific and Research Institute for Medical Engineering of the Federal Service on Surveillance in Health Care with the support of EXPOCENTRE AO will hold the Special Expert Session MEDTECH.RUSSIA – The Best Way to Enter the Russian Market for representatives of foreign medical device manufacturers participating in Russian Health Care Week and interested in entering the Russian and EEU markets.

The unique event – the Ceremony of the Person of the Health Resort Industry 2023. Health Resorts are Made by People – will take place on 5 December from 13.00 to 15.00 within the conference programme of MedTravelExpo. Medical Clinics, Health and Spa Resorts. The event is part of EXPO Academy, organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with the Health Resort Industry magazine. The magazine annually rewards people who make the health resort industry better, more attractive and more efficient. The awards ceremony and a special edition of the Person of the Health Resort Industry magazine are dedicated to this. Based on the results of the event, a printed special issue of the Person of the Health Resort Industry magazine will be published in 2024. The heroes of this issue are top managers and employees of health resorts, researchers, heads of associations, spa equipment manufacturers and business consultants.

The Panel on a Digital Clinic: New Technologies, Safety, Economic Efficiency, organised by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO on 6 December, will be moderated by German Klimenko, Chair at the Council of the Digital Economy Development Foundation, Co-Chair at the Council for the Development of Information Technologies and the Digital Economy of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  

Medical Technology Consortium with the support of EXPOCENTRE AO will hold the Panel on Russian-Made High-Tech Medical Devices: From Development to Introduction to Domestic and Foreign Markets. The Consortium is a Russian professional association of developers and manufacturers of high-tech medical equipment of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Consortium has developed and implements an ecosystem for technological development of the industry. It includes an industrial competence centre created to achieve technological sovereignty in the Russian medical industry. This goal is achieved through direct dialogue between the clinical community of leading medical research centres and military medical institutions of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, financial and industrial development institutions and manufacturers of high-tech medical equipment.

The 18^th edition of the International Scientific Conference on the Current State and Development Prospects of the Elite Sports Medicine – SportMed 2023 will take place on 7 and 8 December.

The conference is organised by the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the Russian Ministry of Sports, the Federal Medical and Biological Agency, the Russian Association for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation of Patients and the Disabled (RASMIBRI), Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, the Federal Research and Clinical Centre of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation FMBA Russia, and EXPOCENTRE AO with the support and participation of the Olympic Committee of Russia, the Paralympic Committee of Russia, the Federal Research Centre for Physical Culture and Sport, the International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS), the European Federation of Sports Medicine Associations (EFSMA), the Federations of Sports Medicine Associations of the CIS Countries, the Baltic States and Georgia.

One of the main events of Russian Health Care Week will be 3^rd Scientific and Educational Forum THE YOUNG MEDICINE, whose aims to attract talented young people into the field of medical research and development. The forum is organised by Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technologies Development, the Russian Ministry of Health Care, and EXPOCENTRE with the support of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, and under the scientific supervision of Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University of the Russian Ministry of Health Care and the Medical Research and Education Centre of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The YOUNG MEDICINE project is included in the official programme of activities for the Decade of Science and Technology and in the action plan for the implementation of the National Strategy for Women.

The forum’s programme will include a plenary meeting, a biomedical module, THE YOUNG MEDICINE Panel. Innovative approach in socially significant diseases. Trend towards interdisciplinarity, the section on implementation of innovative medical projects into practice: how to make your ideas available to patients, a biomedical quiz, the foresight session on an algorithm of successful project implementation: how to assemble your project, and other events.

The Conference on Architecture and Engineering Systems for Health Care Facilities will be held by ABOK-PRESS OOO in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO.  

The 25^th Conference on Modern Achievements of Reconstructive and Maxillofacial Surgery, dedicated to the 120^th anniversary of the founder of Soviet maxillofacial surgery, Professor F.M. Khitrov, will take place on 8 December. The event is organised by the Central Research and Development Institute of Stomatology and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Russian Ministry of Health Care. This year’s main topic will be the institute’s organisational and methodological activities in the field of maxillofacial surgery for 2020-2023.

Every day, MedTravelExpo 2023. Medical Clinics, Health and Spa Resorts will host various forums, conferences, presentations, workshops and masterclasses with the EXPO Academy project.  

Leading industry professionals will introduce medical marketing of clinics, new approaches to patient rehabilitation, high technologies in medicine, science and education using the example of Botkin Hospital, new formats and integrated approach to the creation of health care facilities and health resort industry projects, uninterruptible power supply systems for stable operation of medical equipment, and much more.

Recognised industry leaders will share their unique practical experience in organising health care, promoting and equipping clinics and health resorts. Representatives of Russia’s regions will share their achievements. There will be the following events: Ugra Day at MedTravelExpo: the Presentation of the Health and Wellness Resort Potential of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Ugra, the Presentation of Managing Your Health: Medicine of the Future in the Heart of Voronezh, the Presentation of the Health and Wellness Resort Potential of the Republic of Crimea, and Days of Medical Tourism of the Volgograd Region at MedTravelExpo 2023.

The INCLUSION-EXPO 2023 International Forum: Rehabilitation. Accessible Environment. Assistive Technologies will take place in Marble Hall of Congress Centre. The forum participants will discuss the main directions of medical technology development in paediatric rehabilitation within the Conference on Children's Rehabilitation: Priorities, Technologies, Personnel.

MedTravelExpo will also host the daily Massage Technology Forum of the International Association of Massage, Esthetics and Rehabilitation Professionals, organised by the International Association of Massage, Esthetics and Rehabilitation Professionals in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO. Experienced specialists will provide consultations on studying programmes of additional professional education, advanced training, as well as retraining programmes for health resort professionals. 

EXPO Academy will host the 4^th B2C MedTravelFest International Festival for Active Lifestyle and Health. The festival programme is interactive. It means that the visitors will be able to take part in unique master classes, get autographs from famous doctors and authors of popular books, do physical therapy, breathing exercises, Nordic walking, undergo diagnostic screening, choose a health resort or medical centre based on the recommendations of leading specialists. Every day the festival will host classes conducted by well-known athletes, masseurs, psychologists, somnologists, therapists, and spa specialists.

The festival will present unique projects, innovative achievements of medicine, balneology, and unique health-improving practices. Day of Stress Management will offer practical advice on improving the quality of life.

On 4 December, Russian Health Care Week 2023 will host the Forum on Medical Marketing of a Clinic That Makes Money, organised by EXPOCENTRE AO and Domashenko.Digital Consulting Group, for business owners, heads of clinics, chief physicians, commercial directors, representatives of the medical community, and marketers.

Leading expert practitioners of the medical business and owners and managers of major clinics will share their experience, skills and step-by-step tools with which they have achieved success. On 5 December, EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with the Association Managers of Health Care and the Medical Business School will hold the Conference on How to Run a Modern Clinic Efficiently for owners, managers and executives of medical centres, health resorts, cosmetology and dental clinics, as well as for marketers and analysts who understand the relevance and necessity of new approaches to clinic management, patient attraction and retention in order to increase the efficiency of its work. Topics for discussion will include administrators, registration and contact centres, medical communications such as effective work of a doctor with patients' objections, system business in medicine, price lists of medical services such as pricing, nomenclature, management accounting, and whether and why a manager needs to be a leader.

The audience will no doubt find the Workshop on How to Open a Medical Centre. A Step-by-Step Plan very interesting. The workshop will be moderated by Anna Solomakhina, founder and CEO at the Medical Business School, business consultant on the opening and management of clinics, doctor, health care manager, Co-chair and Head of the Committee for Medical Education of the Association of Health Сare Managers, lecturer at Moscow State Institute of International Relations, MSP.RF (the Federal Corporation for the Support of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises), People’s Friendship University of Russia,  the Small Business of Moscow state agency, independent director, member of the National Corporate Directors Association. 

On 6 December, the Forum on Systematic SMM in Medicine and Spa Business will be organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with the OLYMPX digital agency. The main topics will be the secrets of the selling content in VKontakte, how to make VKontakte and Telegram an effective tool for generating patients, how to increase the number of patients from VKontakte without additional budget for advertising, and how to use VKontakte and Telegram to attract patients to a small clinic in the first month of work without additional budgets. The forum will be moderated by Anna Kilimnichenko, managing partner, consultant for strategic marketing and web marketing special projects, lecturer at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics. 

The participants in the Conference on Management in Health Care: Results 2023, Trends 2024 will talk about on the possibility of public-private partnership in health care in the current conditions, a strategy of private medical organisations in the current conditions and challenges, and digital transformation of medical organisations. They will also summarise the development of the artificial intelligence market for health care, and discuss risk management and its role in modern private health care, the future of health insurance, and other important topics. Maria Redkina, Head of the Museum of Health of the Russian Society of Cardiology, will take part in the Workshop on Museum of Health of the Russian Society of Cardiology: Practical Cases of Working with the General Public, Prevention Trends, Successful Practices. 

The programme will be concluded with the 4^th Conference on a Doctor's Personal Brand Workshop, organised by EXPOCENTRE AO with Zerts OOO. The event’s moderator and speaker will be Viktoria Shmatkova, a medical marketing expert, founder of ZERTS and the Doctor's Personal Brand Workshop. She will talk about new trends in personal brand promotion, building a personal brand in one year, how to make a speech clear and understandable, what a doctor should do instead of sleeping, how to get patients from Telegram, and much more.
