Problems and technologies for a digital clinic

Russian Health Care Week 2023 hosted the Panel on a Digital Clinic: New Technologies, Safety, Economic Efficiency, organised by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The event was moderated by German Klimenko, Chair at the Council of the Digital Economy Development Foundation and Co-Chair at the Council for the Development of Information Technologies and the Digital Economy of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He said that in the current economic situation in Russia, the digital industry can actually improve the efficiency of health care. The panel outlined the existing problems and their solutions.  

Aleksandr Antonov, Deputy Director of the Digital Technologies Department at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed the wish to hear from experts, first of all, the problems of regulatory nature, which can then be transformed into specific legislative initiatives and will be promoted under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Georgy Lebedev, Director at the Institute of Digital Medicine of Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University of the Russian Ministry of Health Care, spoke about the system of training industry professionals to work in digital clinics. In addition to doctors, the institute trains engineers whose task is to develop digital medical services and create scientific AI systems. Today, the institute has three thousand students, mostly doctors, who will graduate with two degrees – a physician's degree and a professional retraining degree in medical data processing.

Reports were made by Dmitry Edelev, President at NP National Health, Sergey Skrebets, Public Relations Officer at Usoltsev Central Clinical Psychiatric Hospital, Konstantin Pokrovsky, Director General at Integral Solutions OOO, and other experts. 

Digital transformation is included in the national development goals of the Russian Federation for the period until 2030. As the panel participants said, today the digital clinic had become an integral component of the development of modern medicine, which made it possible to improve the quality of medical care, ensure patient safety and reduce costs. At the same time, there are still a number of problems and challenges in Russian health care that require immediate attention.

The discussion was attended by representatives of companies developing IT solutions for the medical sector, representatives of relevant associations, medical organisations and universities in Russia, as well as experts.
